For the record, the link that everyone has sent me: http://www.ipodlinux.org/index.php/Main_Page , is what originally prompted my questions here. I was, and still am, looking for personal experiences. -Rich ------------------------------ From: "Dave & Em" Subject: Re: iPod recording Date: Thu, 14 Jul 2005 22:33:37 -0400 Rich, I am very interested in the iPod Linux recording stuff. But, I am waiting until the mini is supported. Also, be aware that you can easily hose your iPod if you don't know exactly what you are doing. But, according to the website, you can record in stereo using the same JAE dock connector that is supplied with the device. You will want to buy a new one of course instead of hacking up the one that comes in the box. I have not found the full P/N yet. I have submitted a request to the factory. The connector makes a good connection, and has a usable life of 10,000 cycles (plug/unplug). And there might be more but I dont know honestly thanks for the space Tom L (fka Tompixie) ------------------------------ From: "Chris Black" Subject: Rock Around the Block Tapers? Date: Fri, 15 Jul 2005 00:29:13 -0400 Anyone taping at this festival this weekend? If so, I'd be much obliged if someone would tape Burn Rome Burn on Saturday at 2 on the corner of Lincoln and Cornelia. I've plugged them here before with little traction; but I'll remain persistent. Band's site is http://www.burnromeburn.com; and Joe's (lead guitar and vocals) blog about the band, etc. is http://www.burnblogburn.blogspot.com/. Let me know if you'll be able to tape and I may be able to get you in touch with Joe to work out logistics. Don't know about board access. Thanks in advance for anyone willing to give these guys a chance. Chris in DC ------------------------------ From: "tchapman livetrade" Subject: Thanks for everybody's advice - This is What I'm gonna get 'I think' Date: Fri, 15 Jul 2005 12:22:32 +0100 Hi everybody Thanks to everybody who gave me advice about what recording equipment to get so I can start recording some shows. I was surprised that many tapers now recommend mini disc as recording equipment and pleased as it is a little cheaper than DAT :o) Here's what I'm gonna get: Sony Mini Disc Recorder - MZRH910 http://www.avland.co.uk/sony/mzrh910/sony-mz-rh910.htm Audio Technica AT831 http://www.proaudiokit.co.uk/Audio_Technica/Audio_Technica_AT831.html Has anybody had any experience of a similiar set up? I've been advised by a few people that I should get a decent sound quality - but who know's - I'll give it my best go for my first attempts at recording some live shows. Many thanks again for your help! Get ready for the ......... ~ * TRACY CHAPMAN WORLD TOUR 2005 *~ Tracy Chapman Live Show Trade: http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/tracychapman_live/index.jhtml ------------------------------ From: "Kenneth Dudzik" Subject: ISO: LA Tapers for Wendy and Lisa Shows Reply-To: Date: Fri, 15 Jul 2005 13:37:41 -0500 Hi, I'm looking for tapers to record Wendy and Lisa (Prince) along with Doyle Bramhall II at Largo in Los Angeles every Wednesday night this month. There will be more shows in August but not listed yet. Check out: http://www.largo-la.com/largohome.html Wendy and Lisa were Prince's back up band in the 80's and Doyle Bramhall II has played with The fabulous Thunderbirds, Arc Angels, Roger Waters, Eric Clapton, Meshell Ndegeocello, and many others. These shows should be incredible. Unfortunately open taping is not allowed so you'd have to be inconspicuous about it. A friend of mine went to the show this past Wednesday and said it was amazing. Please contact me off list if there is a possibility someone could tape these legendary shows.
