I agree that a backlit remote with adjustable levels is a great feature,
particularly for stealth recording, but 93 minutes just isn't enough. With
a 4GB microdrive, the M-Audio device could record over six hours of Redbook
PCM audio.
Does anyone know how many minutes of 24/96 PCM audio could be stored on a
4GB drive?

For its specs (including dimensions) please see our Web page for the
MicroTrack 24/96:
http://www.core-sound.com/microtrack_2496.html
It also includes a comparison to our PDAudio system.

One of the paragraphs on the main page contained the phrase "about the
same size and weight as a deck of cards."
In other words, significantly smaller than a portable DAT deck. Now
if they only made it in black.
This thing also seems to have implemented correctly a lot of the
things I don't like about the Marantz PMD660 - which is too large, too
power-hungry, too clumsy to use (TWO buttons to put it in "hold" -
can't do that by feel in the dark), too inflexible in the field (NO
SPDIF i/o so you can't daisy-chain it; only has XLRs for mic-level
ins), too limited in recording format possibilities (16/44.1 or 48,
nothing better), and a hundred bucks more expensive.

About 2 hours of 24/96 on a 4GB drive. Another very major difference is
the ability to record 24 bit at all. I agree that a remote would be
extremely convenient, and I use my D100's remote to monitor levels all the
time (sometimes even when running a Mic2496 and PDAudio). But with the
extra headroom of 24 bit, the need to monitor levels is considerably
reduced. I'd love to have the control functions on a remote though.

My DA-p1 sits in my closet and sadly collects not-so-much dust. The
transport needs an approx $100 repair from a certified tascam dealer.
I also have the Eco-charge wall wart + 2 battery packs and pack->da-p1
power socket cable which I'll throw in as well.
Will accept 350 OBO, shipping + insurance included. heads are in very
good shape. Serious inquiries only, please. Check, personal or
certified, paypal, whatever, are fine. Domestic US preferred, but will
work with you.
Reason for sale: laptop and PDA taping are most of what I do, and I
would rather have this in a good home, someone who'll use it, and
well, I don't want to give it away, eh.
Thanks! - Will.

Looking for anyone who might have the set times (and between set times) for
the GIGANTOUR show (megadeth and Dream Theater, etc.). Mainly looking for
the main stage stuff, how long each band plays and how much time between
each set, I probably won't get to the gig early enough for the 2nd stage
stuff. If you have any info on this and could drop me an email, it's much
appreciated.

Selling Mini-me and eco-charge power pack [ EC90 ] + charger.
All parts are in good shape, the mini-me travels in a pellican most of the =
time.
Reason for sale: I've gone to a smaller recording form factor and use
the mic2496.
Asking 700 OBO... Serious inquiries only.
Thanks! - Will
