I can offer shows for trade recorded between 1993 and 1999 on her various German Tours (recorded with Denon DTR 80P and Sony TCD D8). I am also looking for reliable traders who have recorded shows of Bon Jovi and/or Twisted Sister. Have about 60 master-recordings of Bon Jovi (recorded between 1986 and 2003) and hundreds more shows. Please write. Best wishes Haki ------------------------------ From: Mike M Subject: ISO: Tapers for upcoming Tristan Prettyman / John Butler Trio tour Date: Tue, 23 Aug 2005 13:42:09 -0700 Wed, 8/24 - Scottsdale, AZ - Martini Ranch Thu, 8/25 - Tucson, AZ - Plush Wed, 9/7 - Salt Lake City, UT - The Velvet Room Tue, 9/13 - Ames, IA - The Maintenance Shop Wed, 9/14 - Minneapolis, MN - Fine Line Music Cafe Thu, 9/15 - Madison, WI - Barrymore Theatre Fri, 9/16 - Chicago, IL - Park West Sat, 9/17 - Indianapolis, IL - The Vogue Sun, 9/18 - Louisville, KY - Headliner's Music Hall Tue, 9/20 - Knoxville, TN - Blue Cats Wed, 9/21 - Nashville, TN - The Mercy Lounge Thu, 9/22 - Saint Louis, MO - The Gargoyle Club @ Washington University Sun, 9/25 - Austin, TX - Austin City Limits (Capital Metro stage) Tue, 9/27 - Atlanta, GA - Variety Playhouse Thu, 9/29 - Washington, D.C. - 9:30 Club Fri, 9/30 - New York, NY - Webster Hall Sun, 10/2 - Somerville, MA - Somerville Theatre Tristan and JBT are both taper friendly and have their live performances available at archive.org. I personally am mainly interested in having Tristan's performances taped, but if you are able to tape both of them (I believe the maximum is usually 45 minutes for Tristan and 2.5 hours for JBT, though it's quite possible that both may fit in just under 3 hours of playing time) then I'd highly recommend it - as I've never heard of any other band that is quite as good as John Butler Trio (mainly with regard to skill at playing instruments, but also in the amount of energy you are filled with when hearing them play (IMHO)) - and that's only after having seen JBT once after Tristan's opening performance earlier this year in San Francisco (I hadn't heard of JBT prior to that). Tristan is a solo singer/songwriter* who has taken confidence (believing in herself and being worry free), openness (sharing the experiences and feelings that she holds close to her heart), and honesty (being herself; she doesn't make up or exaggerate the things she writes about; and one thing that I value far more than almost everything in life is that she doesn't embellish the emotions which are expressed in her voice as she's singing) to a level which is far above almost every other singer/songwriter I know (let alone most people). (*Though on occasion she does have a lot of fun singing a song or two with the bands she tours with.) And even though it's rare for me to have an income of any sort, these shows are cheap, and if it's an incentive for you I would be very glad to cover your costs (so long as I'm not inundated with dozens of offers of this type. :) http://www.tristanprettyman.com/showView.php - more details on her tour dates. http://www.johnbutlertrio.com - also includes venue URLs on the tour dates page. http://www.archive.org ____ Also, I'd really like to hear about other singer/songwriters who have (or may have) an attitude towards performing music which is similar to Tristan's (see below for an absolutely wonderful and quick example of what I mean - which was written by Kaki King) - I'm especially interested in hearing about artists who are not that well-known, and I am open to everything from Gabby La La (who just likes to have fun) to Kaki King* (who plays hard). (And I mostly prefer female singers as women view life much differently than guys do.) (*Who is also on archive.org - which is how I came across her music just a week ago - thanks to Jason Sobel's post in Kickdown Central at Taper's Section.) Graham Dion winnipeg, manitoba Canada: "How far do you go to give the audience what it wants to hear? ie., how much does your music get influenced by society and what wants to be heard, and how much do you neglect that and solely consider being honest to yourself through your music? In addition, if you can answer this, HOW do these two potentially- conflicting situations influence your music?" Kaki Answers: "It's a tough question that eventually every artist has to deal with. The way I answer it is just doing exactly as I please and hoping that someone out there wants to hear it too. I'll never be able to make everyone happy, but I know that I'd be so miserable doing music that I hate. I do believe that there is an honesty that comes across in music, no matter what type, and you can hear or sense if an artist is giving you what's in their heart or not. I just hope that I can cultivate an understanding with and a promise to my fans: that no matter what I do or write it will be coming from a very sincere place in my heart, and no record company or publicity firm will ever change that." ____ http://members.tripod.com/danewbie/tristan.txt - She's pretty much already said everything I'd like to say to describe her (short versions being the second paragraph I wrote here, as well as Kaki's response above) - so if you're interested I've just gathered some of those things and quoted them on this page. And thanks for reading. =) ------------------------------ From: "Craig F."
