Subject: Storing DATs on DVD Uncompressed

I've spent a few hours looking around for info but still can't seem to find
what I'm looking for.
I'd like to take some DATs recorded at 48K and copy them to DVD-R and keep
the same audio quality as the DAT Master. Which means I need to use PCM
correct? Because Dolby Digital AC3 is compressed audio.
So far I've only found one way to do this and it's to create a Data DVD and
create WAV files of the DATs. I think if I use a sound card that will
accept an optical digital input it'll create a bit for bit WAV file of the
Master DAT. Then I can copy the file to a Data DVD and Play it back
whenever I want using my PC.
But, is there anyway to create a DVD with an exact bit for bit clone of the
audio from a DAT that will play on a home DVD player connected to a home
audio system?
Has anyone figured out how to do this yet??
THanks.

Just a heads up for anyone who's interested. I found a cheap DVD player that
will play PAL format DVD's. It's the Koss KS4125. Can get it at most Sears
stores. If you're sick of having to camp in front of your computer to watch
your PAL discs, you'll probably think this is as cool as I do. :)

I am selling my extra used Sony TCD-D8 DAT recorder. This unit has under 200
hours on it, was used gently, and never failed me in the field. New units go
for $650-$899. You get the AC adapter, a 7-pin-to-coax cable, and a carrying
case for the deck. I aslo just recently had the Pro-Digital cleaning/check
done (January, haven't used i since). I'm looking for $400, but will
consider reasonable offers
for it. Email me off-list for pics of the deck, heads, and accessories.
Thanks, and have a grateful day!
