I have plenty to offer as well as many other bands and masters. Thanks Clint ------------------------------ From: "john e. bogus" Subject: DAT > DVD uncompressed Date: Sun, 18 Sep 2005 13:32:59 -0400 "I'd like to take some DATs recorded at 48K and copy them to DVD-R and keep the same audio quality as the DAT Master." "is there anyway to create a DVD with an exact bit for bit clone of the audio from a DAT that will play on a home DVD player connected to a home audio system?" What you're looking for is called DVD-A authoring software. This will allow you to put uncompressed PCM audio on a DVD. There are several programs available for this, only one of which is shareware (this was made available here onlist within the last year, but my understanding is that it is more difficult to use than the commercially available software). Note that DVD-V has the same 16/48 audio spec as DAT, but DVD-A will allow even higher quality audio on the disc in up to 6 channels. Note also that most el cheepo DVD players will only play DVD-V discs, but players capable of DVD-A are in the $100 price range. If you already have a digital soundcard and a DVD burner in your computer, all you should need is the authoring software..... Yours Truly, john e. bogus ------------------------------ From: "john e. bogus" Subject: figure-eight mics Date: Sun, 18 Sep 2005 13:32:57 -0400 Here's another suggestion, if you'd rather go the DIY route: http://mp3forkidz.com/mic/blum.html The Panasonic capsules used run about $2 each from digikey..... Len's suggestion is interesting if the mics are decent.....that's about the lowest price I've seen for one that will do a figure-eight pattern, perhaps he could tell us a bit more as to how well they perform? Yours Truly, john e. bogus ------------------------------ From: William Schofield Subject: Audio Track File Splitting Program for Appple Date: Sun, 18 Sep 2005 16:28:01 -0700 Does anybody out there know a great program to split up single .WAV files for the Mac? I have a ton of single .WAV files that I want to separate into individual tracks, convert to .FLAC, and then torrent them. All help is appreciated. Thanks! Christian ------------------------------ From: Jonathan Casper Subject: Making PCM DVDs Date: Mon, 19 Sep 2005 10:42:19 -0400 The DVD specification allows for uncompressed PCM 48k 16 bit audio on DVDs. You would need a DVD authoring program and probably would have to add low bit rate video of the same length (which could be just black) in order to have a compliant DVD disc that would play on home DVD players. Alternatively, if you could play back DVD-Audio discs, you could use Minnetonka's Disc Welder to create one that would be 48k 16 bit. Jonathan Casper 116th Dream, Inc.
