As we sell to broadcasters worldwide, the most popular WS is Rycote followed
by Koala.
Pricing is about US$60 to over US$400 depending on what mic and how much
turbulence reduction desired.
Inquire if interested.

It's called a 'blimp' because that's exactly what it looks like. They're very
expensive but you can make your own. Start with a wire frame- the larger
the better but commercial ones are typically a foot or two long with a
diameter no less than 6 inches. Cover the outside with panty hose (just like
a 'popper-stopper') and then a layer of foam on the inside. The idea is to
get a lot of space between the acoustic mesh and the mic- this gives the
airstream time and space to return to calmer flow. The real trick is making
sturdy reliable connections for mounting the mic, cable exit, etc. and the
commercial ones due tend to be very well made if you've got half a kilobuck
or so lying around. If there is any noticeable effect on sound quality, it
would presumably be because the mesh is too fine or too dense.

Subject: Core Sound Stealthy Cards question
Date: Wed, 28 Sep 2005 12:32:15 -0500
Just picked up a used set of these mics, and have only used them twice now.
Here's my setup when using these:
CS Stealthy Cards > core sound batt box > D7
Going "Line In" to my D7, I get really low recording levels. Max peaks are
around the -20db range. That's with the recording level knob set to 6.
Previous to these mics, my old setup was this: (borrowed pair of) SP-CMC7's
> SP-SPSB-1 > D7
Going "Line In" to my D7 with this setup, and with the recording level knob
set to around "4", most of the time got me levels that hovered around -5db
on my D7.
Is that common with the Core Sound mics to be on the "quieter" side? Could I
go "Mic In" with the Core Sound mics and get slightly higher levels (I quit
using the Mic In due to brickwalling, but that was when using different
mics)?
I tape mostly rock shows (club setting), so I'm certain my low recording
levels aren't because of lower decibals of volume coming from the PA, and I
also know that in post production that I can alter the levels on the wav
files to increase the levels, but it'd be nice to get them higher from the
start without having the recording level know set to "9" on my D7.
Can anyone else who uses these mics shed some light on what works for them?
Thanks!

Hey,
Taping is not allowed for the current Steve Winwood Tour.
I saw him at The Bowery Ballroom NYC and several tapers who tried to openly
tape were shut down.
I then later emailed the webmaster at Steve's website and he confirmed no
taping this tour.

Paul Metzger is the guitarist in the great Minneapolis/St Paul
band TVBC, but is touring solo, playing modified guitars and
banjos. Supposed to be very cool. A report from a gig
yesterday or the day before said it was the best concert the
guy had ever seen. I'd love to hear it.
Let me know if you tape it and we'll work something out.
Thanks,
Olaf

Hello,
you should check the following site
www.videohelp.com
lot of information about hardware, guides and an outstanding list of
software to download (many tools are freeware and very valuable)
Cheers,
