From: Clark Guy <guy.clark@siemens.com> Subject: M-Audio's MicroTrack 24/96 Date: Thu, 6 Oct 2005 11:27:12 -0500 HI, Eric! It's possible that the MT2496 had a similar limitation on its phantom power output that the CoreSound MIC2496 does... if you measure the voltage open circuit, I expect that it will probably be 48 to 50VDC. Load it down with a couple of microphones, and the voltage will drop to some other voltage. In my case, with the MIC2496, my TOA-KY mics pull the voltage down to less than 9VDC, and drain the battery in minutes, rather than hours. The TOAs pull too much current for the DC/DC converter in the MIC2496. Mics that draw less current will have a higher voltage seen on the lines. For now, I simply use my self-powered Nakamichi CM-300s and am happy with the results. Someday, I'll make a phantom power inserter to drive the TOA mics (which sound great for location recording of my bands and orchestras), or I'll break down and buy a pair of mics that don't draw so much current. The MIC2496 sounds great and works great, too, so don't think I'm complaining about it... ;-) Guy Clark ============================================================================ From: ericBowne <webowne@optonline.net> Subject: M-Audio's MicroTrack 24/96? Date: Wed, 05 Oct 2005 12:27:23 -0400 <snip> I also know that there is some concern over the phantom power voltages that the MT2496 puts out. It was advertised early on as passing 48v, however it actually only delivers 30v. >snip< ericB ============================================================================

From: Chris & Melany <ellaguru@comcast.net> Subject: fs : mod SBM1 Date: Thu, 06 Oct 2005 12:36:38 -0400 posting for a local taping friend.....plz reply directly to the seller (email below). *************** Hey, selling the Oade-mod SBM-1 w/ coax mod. It has signs of normal wear and tear, but nothing affecting the functioning. The level knobs are rather tight, but they do turn independently from one another, and can be made to move easier. DIY Optical cable is also available. This output cable works great for use with an NJB3. Only other thing is that it has a belt clip on the back of it, which can be removed, but I found it to be helpful for stealthing situations. I have 100% positive feedback on Ebay (username: Pfife7) and have done several transactions with people on Taperssection.com who can vouch for me. $500 for SBM-1 and Cable. Email (arparp@gmail.com <mailto:arparp@gmail.com>) if interested - thanks! ~Andy

Date: Wed, 05 Oct 2005 15:17:25 -0400 Has anyone tried to tape him openly? Does anyone have any idea what his stance is? Thanks! Scott amos lee has been taped openly in the philadelphia area for years and apparently does not mind. hopefully this has not changed. _________________________________________________________________ Is your PC infected? From: "Jeff Franzreb" <jfranzreb@joffo.com> Subject: re: Amos Lee taping policy? Date: Thu, 6 Oct 2005 16:53:05 -0400 Funny you should ask that. I don't know the policy, but a story a friend of mine told me pretty much explains he's not cool about it.... My buddy went to the Dylan/Haggard/Lee show in Vegas. He saw Lee the next day strolling through the casino. He chatted with him and Lee was cool with him....right until he mentioned he taped his show and would be willing to share it with him. Amos talked down to him, saying he's wrong for taping and that he shouldn't do that. I'm not sure how a budding musician can turn down free advertising, but there it is. He may have changed his ways, but i can't say for sure. That was March of 2005 for the record. Best, Jeff From: "Scott Bernstein" <scott_bernstein@hotmail.com> Subject: Amos Lee taping policy? From: Beth <toowylde@yahoo.com> Subject: Any Venue Info on T.T. 's in Cambridge MA? Date: Fri, 7 Oct 2005 00:26:14 -0700 (PDT) I'm planning on attending and taping the The BellRays and Suffrajett show in Cambridge, MA on Sunday 10/16. The venue is T.T. the Bear's Place??? I'm a New Yorker who is up here for work and am just lucky enough to have discovered that these 2 bands (who I love) are playing while I'm here. Does anyone in the Boston area know anything about this venue? Size? Acoustics? Is there is a taping policy for the venue - any problems from venue staff? (I do have permission to tape from each of the bands.) Reply off list. Also, would love to attend with another taper, if anyone digs this kind of music. Beth
From: Jason K <lbgspam@yahoo.com> Subject: SCMS in Hard Drive & Memory Recorders? Date: Fri, 7 Oct 2005 07:49:50 -0700 (PDT) Do the Hard Drive and memory based recorders have SCMS? If not, why don't they? I read the following on the RIAA site and it would seem that they should be law? *************************** Audio Home Recording Act [riaa.com]: This 1992 legislation exempts consumers from lawsuits for copyright violations when they record music for private, noncommercial use and eases access to advanced digital audio recording technologies. The law also provides for the payment of modest royalties to music creators and copyright owners, and mandates the inclusion of the Serial Copying Management Systems in all consumer digital audio recorders to limit multi-generational audio copying (i.e., making copies of copies). This legislation will also apply to all future digital recording technologies, so Congress will not be forced to revisit the issue as each new product becomes available. __________________________________ Yahoo!
