To answer a few questions I got via email..
One.. I dont have a MT 2496, but a friend does and We did another test run
last night. Mind you, all of the testing we are doing involves JUST THE
SPDF IN. Neither I, nor my friend, have any interest in using any of the
analog inputs on the MT 2496, so as of yet I have no comments on it analog
in aside from what I have read. To sum it up, this unit works very well (so
far) for running as a dat replacement for a digital signal. The MT 2496
takes a 16 bit / 44.1k digi signal and stores it just fine. The only issue
we have run into is having to shut down/reboot the firmware between each
recording session, which is not that big of a deal. I read last night that
the new firmware was released that allows the MT2496 to take a 24 bit
digital spdf signal. We did not try the 24 bit input as of yet, allthough
we heard through reliable sources that the unit would not take a 24 bit
signal with its present firmware, but that was released yesterday.. so we
will see..
as for powering.. the two times we used it, we had access to AC power, and
used it to power the MT 2496 via the usb input. I have no info on the life
of the internal battery for anything (digi in, analog in, phantom on etc).
Someone had asked me about powering solutions for the field.. I suggest
using something like this..
http://www.dealsonic.com/usbbapabapof.html
The unit requires 5v, so any usb power pack providing that will work..
overall.. the unit appears to be stable as a DAT replacement taking a 16
bit signal over spdf.. thats really all I can say...
here are the updates with the new firmware ..
=====================================================================
Changes from v1.0.2 to v1.1.5:
General Fixes:
- Fixed the behavior of the L/M/H switch (L and H were reversed)
- Fixed a problem with the File menu (recorded files would not play from
the Files menu until the machine was rebooted)
- Fixed problem where "no media found" message didn't always show
- Adjusted screen contrast range
Fixing Meters:
- Fixed battery meter (if full and the external power was removed,
the level dropped approximately 5-10%)
- Fixed level meter length (the bar of the level meter maxed out
about 8 pixels shy of the end of the track, so it appeared that
the unit had headroom left, even though it was clipping)
Fixing Pops:
- Eliminated pop noises on boot-up
- Eliminated static noises at the end of tracks
New Items:
- S/PDIF is enhanced to 24-bit/48kHz, and is more reliable
- Spanish language added

This is winding down. For those of you that missed it, jump on while
you can. This is a nice upgrade to allot of the FM versions and also
for the PreFM version which circulates with a flaw on track 4, 'Women Be
Wise'.

I recently came across a few ticket stubs I received as a birthday
present from my Aunt when I was a kid and I'm looking for the shows to
go along with the stubs. Here is a list of the shows that I need to
match up with my ticket stubs:
Fleetwood Mac 12-14-79 Cow Palace, San Francisco, CA
Foreigner 10-28-78 Lodi Grape Bowl, Lodi, CA
Elton John 08-23-80 Berkeley Community Theater, Berkeley, CA
Stephen Stills 06-09-79 Fox-Warfield Theater, San Francisco, CA
Bruce Springsteen 07-01-78 Berkeley Community Theater, Berkeley, CA
Pointer Sisters 04-27-79 Oakland Paramount, Oakland, CA
If anyone happens to have any of these shows or can point me in a
direction I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks a million.

Hi Everyone!
I am looking for Dead Can Dance tapers/tapes of this tour,
in particular the Los Angeles and New York shows backed by the orchestra.
ive 2 dat masters to offer:
- Boston with M1+CSB
(quality - VERY good! stack taped)
- NYC with M1+CSB
(not too happy with this one! was sitting very far away and had to run
Mic-In for the first time so a few clipping problems in the first 2
songs as i got used to this, and i also got there late and missed the
first 3 songs, some parts of the tape are excellent, others just
blah.)
Also have to offer the entire box set of the European Tour earlier in the y=
ear.
Thanx!
