Hi Guy,
I've had very good luck with MK-012s for symphonic and choir recordings,
with both cardioid and hypercardioid elements. I stayed away from the
omni's for that venue because of the overpowering nature of the auditorium
acoustics.
No idea on the preamp draw, unfortunately. If you learn what it is,
please post it for the rest of us. I really like these mikes...
