There is a small piece of metal that holds the dat inside my home unit that has been bent downward, making insertion difficult. (I basically have to pry it up with something while inserting the tape with the opposite hand)

My question is, can I remove this piece of metal? It seems like its only job is to hold the tape,and I think that the tape can't move any further into teh unit anyway. OR, does anyone know of a good way to bend the piece of metal upwards?

(I have the 700 Sony DAT unit, BTW)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
