First, let me say I'm a little mystified about how a Mackie mixer could fail
to meet what seems to be the most basic of needs.  Yes, Mackie is pro-sumer
quality, but we are talking about spoken word in retro-fitted Airstream
trailers.  I wonder if the expectations for the project are appropriate
(it's not the Emerson String Quartet at Carnegie hall).  Or if there aren't
other underlying problems (like proper mic technique, gain structure,
acoustics, comb filtering, or media/format limitations).

Having said that, you might want to consider:
