DAT-heads Digest #673, Volume #7 Thu, 24 Nov 05 21:50:01 EST Contents: multritrack software for mac, freeware or recommendations please (shane b) Thoughts on the MT2496 Follow up (Paul Beichert) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: shane b Subject: multritrack software for mac, freeware or recommendations please Date: Thu, 24 Nov 2005 02:46:43 -0800 (PST) i'm looking for freeware if possible or perhaps someone can hook me up, i'll reciprocate. i bought a motu 896 (8 channels) recently which came bundled with audiodesk audiodesk is crap, you cannot even open your audio files without having the motu plugged in. i will be getting another 8 channels and want to know what most folks out there are using. i dont want to spend a heap of money on software if i can get something free/cheaper that does the same job, ie allow approx 16 channels of audio to be recorded at once. i think logic express or logic light whatever it's called only allow you 12 channels, is that correct? thanks shane __________________________________ Yahoo! While I won't go into great detail here, the general consensus from the 10 plus responses that I received is that this unit has many limitations, firmware that is buggy and some general product quality issues. While hopefully many of these will be resolved in the future, suffice to say that I'll be looking for an alternate option to replace my D8. While the price is attractive, reliability and durability is very much a concern and it seems that it would be (at this point anyway) better to invest in something other than this unit.
