First, I would advise against +R. In my experience, it has poorer
playback compatibility than -R, and it's become a niche format for
Philips as most other companies have chosen -R as their preferred
mode. Also, +RW is a clearly inferior format to -RW and -RAM, as
+RW is not a random-access format (it's acts just like a tape: you
can record over a section in the middle of the disc, just make sure
you don't erase what's after the part you are re-recording!)
As to your question about network compatibility, you did not
explain what you want to do on the network. Most machines will
not let you transfer MPEG2 video files from or to the machine. (But
if you know of a machine that does allow this, please tell us about
it!) Panasonic made a machine called the DMR-E500, now
discontinued, that was net-ready and did allow you to record and
transfer things in MPEG4. However, I'd guess you'd have to dub
these files "in realtime" before you could write them to a
compatible DVD.
