I'm a Bruce collector and I would like to trade high quality Bruce 
live tapes (please no copies from Bootlegs); I'm expecially 
interested in tapes from 1970-1990.

I have two home deck units made by Sony that are acting up.  I believe it's 
mechanical and some parts might need to be replaced, like the motors or 
something.

Does anybody know if there aare any places that'll look at these for me and 
possibly get them to work again?

Also, if I wanted to buy a new home deck where should I look on the web to 
find a retailer?  Anyone have any good preferences?

It's been pointed out here before: technically speaking, DAT Heads 
do not require or allow "alignment."  The problem with out-of-spec 
decks usually has to do with tape tension or sometimes tape 
alignment, but not the heads per-se.

Usually, the problem with older decks is a combination of the 
supply reel tension getting to weak, and the pinch roller getting 
worn.  For this reason, the problem usually gets progressively 
worse.

For this reason, you really should copy any tapes that your deck 
will play now (to another deck, CDR, or CPU) and then plan to 
spend several hundred dollars on repairs, or just stop using the old 
deck.
