I have a Sony 59ES that's been sitting around doing nothing for a few =
years
now (last repaired by Sony Seattle in 1998, barely used since then or
actually ever). I went to use it and it appears that the transport is =
giving
out or has gone out. I tried repacking a tape a couple of times to get =
the
wheels moving and got it to play through last night but tonight the =
problems
are back. Last time it went for repairs the drive reel, takeup reel, and
pinch roller assembly were replaced. I'm thinking that if I can replace
these parts again it might bring the thing back to life. Looks like =
parts
are about $60 if someone actually has them in stock. Here are my =
questions:
1. I don't have the repair manual. Does anyone have a 59ES repair manual
that they'd be willing to copy the pages regarding R&R of the transport
assembly?
2. If I spend the $$ on the parts to get it working, what is this thing =
even
worth these days?
3. Does anyone want to buy a 59ES with very light use that has barely =
been
used since it's last service yet has a transport issue?
4. Has anyone experienced a sluggish Sony transport that's come back to =
life
with a bit of "exercise"?
5. Does anyone want to trade? (I still have a D7 and a FostexD5 that =
work
fine... Looking for Rufus Wainwright among others)
Thanks

I have for sale my T+ Mod UA-5. Bought (as Digi-Mod)
from Oade Brothers in Feb 04 and upgraded to T+ Mod
in March 05. Comes with all orginal packaging, sales
receipts, instruction manual, and CD and materials.
I'll also include my home brew power supply
(terminated for RC NIMH batteries), a 3'toslink
cable, a 3' right angle RCA cable (Switchcraft ends,
Canare Star Quad cable) perfect for feeding a SVU-1
signal and a 10' RCA's (Switchcraft ends, Canare Star
Quad cable) for getting a signal from a soundboard to
create a matrix. Also included is one 3000 mAh 9.6 V
Ni-MH Battery and slow-charge recharger. This will
power the
UA-5 for 6 hours in the field. Babied and loved since
purchase. Tons of recordings on the archive that show
how well the T+ sounds. $575 shipped for the whole
package with insurance.
