DAT-heads Digest #763, Volume #7 Thu, 2 Mar 06 13:50:00 EST Contents: MAudio, Marantz - advice desired ("Waldemar Kowalski") FS or FT: Schoeps MK6 capsiules ("Nick Graham") ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "Waldemar Kowalski" Subject: MAudio, Marantz - advice desired Date: Wed, 1 Mar 2006 18:29:59 -0800 I need a decent recorder for stealthing, recording conferences, and the like. The new MAudio looks attractive, but I haven't seen any reviews yet. Any feedback on this and the low end Marantz solid state recorders? thanks! waldemar ------------------------------ From: "Nick Graham" Subject: FS or FT: Schoeps MK6 capsiules Date: Thu, 2 Mar 2006 02:37:53 -0600 I've fooled around with these a lot the last couple of months, but quickly realized I'd rather put the extra cash toward MK41s, since I pretty much only tape in shitty bars. Anyway, one of these 2 caps was bought used, but it is in absolute pristine condition. The other cap was purchased brand new from the Schoeps factory in January. While not matched, I've discovered them to be within 1dB of each other. They're the switchable 3 pattern (card, omni, figure 8 ) lateral pick up capsules. With these caps you can run a regular card pair as well as M/S, Blumlein, split omnis, etc. More info here: http://www.posthorn.com/S_mk6.html They retail for $1474 apiece. I bought the used one for $800 and the new one was $1250 direct from Schoeps. I'll take a pair of MK4s + $1100, or a pair of mk41s + $800, or *maybe* sell them outright for $2000. I'm in no huge hurry to move these, and won't really be disappointed if I can't...but I am willing to listen to other offers (i.e. MK4s and 41s for these + cash).
