21st. Century Schizoid Band (Meurglys3@att.net) World Party at SXSW? ("Danny T") I need MPEG-1 conversion advice - off topic, but with bandwidth tax ("Scott")
From: Meurglys3@att.net Subject: 21st. Century Schizoid Band Date: Wed, 08 Mar 2006 16:04:22 +0000 Hello, Wondering if anybody recorded this band on any of their 2004 US tour gigs. If so, or if you have other shows from their 2003 European tour, please look me up for a trade. http://home.att.net/~meurglys3/ Tom

Looks like they may be doing a couple of west coast dates as well. Have a nice day, Danny My trade page: www.sanctifiedpress.com/trade.html EJ only: www.sanctifiedpress.com/ejtrade.html
From: "Scott" <s.w.goodwin@gmail.com> Subject: I need MPEG-1 conversion advice - off topic, but with bandwidth tax Reply-To: "Scott" <s.w.goodwin@gmail.com> Date: Wed, 8 Mar 2006 12:24:23 -0500 I've got a batch of .mpeg (MPEG-1) files made on a digital camera in movie mode and want to get them to a format that I can feed into a component-type DVD burner. They're movies of the first three minutes of my new son's life, so I'm pretty much jonesin' to get the disc made, if you know what I mean... I've tried the following: Laptop s-video and audio / Win Media Player > DVD recorder (the desktop and player appear just fine on the resulting DVD, but the actual video screen remains dark on the DVD while playing normally on the laptop screen) FlasKMPEG conversions to various formats (.avi with different tweaks, basically) trying to get a VCD that I can play from another DVD player into the DVDR. Best result here was fine except no audio came through at all. Raw burns in Nero that bring error messages about incompatibilities - opting to process the files results in a playable disc, but the results are everything but unrecognizable, and opting to burn 'as-is' results in an unplayable disc (on an old Chinese-made Apex player that will play pretty much anything you can burn to round plastic) I've also screwed around with about fifteen different shareware-crippleware-trialware products with great frustration and little success. I'd like to avoid buying some $200 software package for one little conversion of low-res stuff, but I might if I have to. I'm stuck. My dream would be to find something that would take my MPEGs and burn me a pretty SVCD or DVD with the content being in a smaller box on the screen, so as to not make the lo-res MPEGs look so crappy, but at this point, I'll take anything I can get to get these things onto a DVD-Video disc. Please let me know if you can help. I would be willing to FTP or u-send-it the files to someone if they could do the conversions to dvd files for me, and make it worth their while in $ or what-have-you. Thanks for reading - SWG BWT: I'll freebie one lucky contestant one of my favorite shows of all time (world-jazz-guitar rock is all I'll tell you), and probably more folks if you're interested after I tell you who the band is - email me at scott_loves_food at hotmail dot com.
