Help with SBM1 dropout (Adam Smith)
From: Adam Smith <adaml@lanset.com> Subject: Help with SBM1 dropout Date: Mon, 13 Mar 2006 14:16:34 -0800 I'm posting this for a friend who doesn't have internet access. (Yes they do exist) He has a unmodified SBM1 that appears to be dropping bits or something similar. While recording with it he's experiencing random dropout during the recording. His rig is AKG 480-> MP2-> SBM1-> Oade active cable-> D8. He uses the same SLA battery to power the MP2 & SBM1. We believe the trouble to be the SBM1 because all decks connected to the I/O cable receive the dropout. He uses the cable for transfers and clones and has never experienced dropout when connected this way. So, my question is, are there any chips or electronics that are notorious for routine failure in the SBM1? Has anyone here ever experienced similar problems? Is there routine service that the SBM1 requires? Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA, Adam
