DAT-heads Digest #798, Volume #7 Mon, 10 Apr 06 17:50:01 EDT Contents: OT: Convert uncompressed .asf audio stream to .wav (Mark Mayhle) Looking for Secret Chiefs 3 / Sleepytime Gorilla Museum Recordings ("Ramiro Javier González Barrios") ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Mark Mayhle Subject: OT: Convert uncompressed .asf audio stream to .wav Date: Mon, 10 Apr 2006 17:53:14 +0000 (GMT) I have captured an audio stream from kexp.org that I want to burn to CD. I can capture their 96Kbs .asf stream and convert it to wav using various software such as Switch, with no problem. However, what I really want is the 1.4Mbs uncompressed stream-- full lossless CD resolution. I can stream it and listen to it just fine. I can capture it with WM Recorder just fine. But the resulting uncompressed .asf file will not play in WMP and the asf to wav converter programs such as Switch don't recognize it. If I relabel the file as .raw, Switch will convert it to .wav and I can play the resulting file. It's a horrible staticky mess but I can hear the original audio underneath it all, so it's there if I can just get the conversion to work properly. Any thoughts on why the uncompressed .asf file seems to be such a problem, both for Windows Media Player and for converter programs? And how I can do a successful conversion to wav? -- Mark Mayhle mark@mayhle.com ------------------------------ From: "Ramiro Javier González Barrios" Subject: Looking for Secret Chiefs 3 / Sleepytime Gorilla Museum Recordings Date: Mon, 10 Apr 2006 14:05:35 -0400 Hello everyone, I'm looking for master or really low gen recordings of Secret Chiefs 3 and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, audio and video.
