DAT-heads Digest #808, Volume #7 Thu, 20 Apr 06 17:50:01 EDT Contents: Spam Deleted Industiral Jazz Group in Hollywood, CA this Friday ("Gary Davis") ------------------------------ From: "Gary Davis" Subject: Industiral Jazz Group in Hollywood, CA this Friday Reply-to: g@hoxnet.com Date: Thu, 20 Apr 2006 07:40:06 -0700 Looking for something to tape? The Industrial Jazz Group is a 15- 20 piece band that plays (what I would call) modern jazz songs. It's not "big band" in the traditional sense, but of course it's a very big band compared to, say, The White Stripes or MMW. They play "songs," not just random improv. They are totally taper friendly and they're playing Friday night for $10 in Hollywood. Their original message with the address follows. --Gary April 21, At 8 PM, The Industrial Jazz Group Will be performing At the Barnsdall Gallery Theater In dear sweet Los Angeles. This venerable venue Can be found at 4800 Hollywood Boulevard Across from the Steve Allen Theater And behind the big gray gates. (Go up the hill a little, and park anywhere.) Tickets are $10, But the new CD (which this performance is all about) will be free to you if you wear some sort of costume. Don=92t be shy! The seventeen (or more) Musicians on the stage Will be doing goofier things. Barnsdall! Barnsdall! Barnsdall! Hope to see you there. With: Phil Rodriguez, Kris Tiner, Dan Rosenboom (trumpets), Mike Richardson, Ron Christian (trombones), Damon Zick, Ben Wendel, Dan Boissy, Brian (aka =93Brain=94) Walsh, Cory Wright, David Moyer (saxophones), Robert Jacobson (guitar), Oliver Newell (bass), Dan Schnelle (drums), Jill Knapp (vocals), Andrew Durkin (piano, conducting, compositions), and mayhap some special guests.
