Someone should be able to cancel their accounts and blow them away. I've tried to email the list owner and have not had a reply. ... I took care of the account you had previously mentioned, but did not reply to you (dat-heads-owner gets ridiculous amounts of SPAM). I also just axed the address that went out in the last digest, but looking at the log there are a few more authorized that shouldn't be. I will clean this up, but that is a temporary solution. The dat-heads-post authorization is to allow people to read dat-heads on the web and easily post to the list (also for people who see variation in their envelope sender across multiple machines). It kept the spammers out for a while and I wanted it easy for the list members, but I think I will have to make it a full subscription process like dat-heads now. I am open to suggestions, but barring this I will plan to put this policy in. I know there are a few pending requests out there to change addresses. I have tried to search out the ones sent to dat-heads-owner, but anything sent to postmaster is a bit of a lost cause. If you are waiting for a change, please contact me (here or via dat-heads-owner) and I promise to make it for you ASAP. Sean

From: jlizard <jlizard96@verizon.net> Subject: Fall Out Boy- Pittsburgh April 22, 06 Date: Mon, 24 Apr 2006 19:14:40 -0400 I took my daughter to see Fall Out Boy, All American Rejects, & Hawthorne Heights over the weekend at the Chevrolet Ampitheatre in Pittsburgh, PA. I was wondering if anyone out there recorded the show. I was going to but the rain was rather unpredictable Saturday. Any media would be fine, but prefer DAT. Please email me off list at: jlizard96@verizon.net. I have lots to trade. Brian

From: Liam Sean Kennedy <liam@fedney.tech.xo.com> Subject: DAT-Heads as a Yahoo or Google Group? Date: Mon, 24 Apr 2006 20:50:08 -0400 As a follow up to the traffic about SPAM to the list, one thing I have been thinking of asking about for a while is what folks think postitive/negative of moving DAT-heads to a commercial email service. As DAT-heads dates back to a "Research and Education" oriented Internet, I have rejected any offers of sponsorship in the past. It has always been run in my spare time and with resources I have paid for or had an agreement to use with my work. In fact in the old days of the Internet we did bulk tape buys w/o profit just to make our dollars go further when it was a specialized market. Hunt, the Oade Brothers, Terrapin (except at the beginning), and others improved on this and there are enough things to do with DAT-heads, that moving it to another email platform would provide more functionality for users... the cost is those platforms do include ads with messages/digests. I am happy to keep the list around as people do use it, but to really improve upon it is more work than I think current volume warrants. Sean

We all get pounded with spam and the last thing we need is for them to infiltrate our list. I get about 200 spam messages a day and I've really developed a low tolerance for these snakes with their con games and just plain outright lies and deception. Sooner or later our "friendly" governments will bring in some serious laws about this, and I'll bet we won't like what they do. The spamrats will have ruined a good thing when it happens. ...
