I've got a D7 that i haven't used in years. when i powered it up it's
doing the dreaded Loading/Power off/Loading cycle. It had been working
fine when i used it last (albeit a couple of years ago).
I'll let it go 'as is' and even throw in a Radio Shack Wal Wart, an
original manual and a cheapie core sound 7 pin i/o cable (one pin is
broken, but it wasn't one of the 'important' ones). It may be able to
be repaired or it could be used for parts.
$75 OBO / buyer pays shipping.
if interested send me an email..

I moderator a few yahoo-groups. My groups are spam free because of the
feature I turn on to require new members to have their posts approved.
Once I see they are honorable, I set their accounts to be unmoderated
posting.

I was at a show in Tarrytown NY Saturday with John Simon, Lew Soloff,
Howard Johnson, Lew Scott & Ed Caccavale. I gave Mr. Johnson a
recording I downloaded from Dime of his band Gravity from 1996. He was
very grateful for this recording which he did not know existed.
He then told me of a show he played at in Japan in 1978 with Archie
Shepp that was recorded by the soundman. It was the 3rd night that
Archie Shepp was in Japan (maybe June 7th). Mr. Johnson had a cassette
copy for years, but it was stolen some time ago at a gig. If anyone
knows any collectors who might be able to help, you will make Howard
Johnson very, very happy. Please send out an ISO to any other jazz
collectors you might know. I tracked this down, but the person who has
it does not want to make a copy for Mr. Johnson without some sort of
recording in return from him.
Thanks to any leads or information anyone can provide.

Hi Liam & Graham & all..
Speaking just for myself, I despise Yahoo because to use it requires
taking down too much firewall and giving Yahoo far too much access to my
computer -- which in a typical Telco way they seem to regard as *their*
computer. I believe Google would be a better choice, though not as good
as what we are getting now and have been getting all along thanks to Liam.
Spam is a problem for everybody. I use an obsolete install of
SpamAssassin 2.63 which has been snagging almost 99% of my spam with
virtually 0% loss of wanted email. Mine runs between 15 and 20 detected
spams per hour for the past year. It is up since the end of last week --
maybe for Mother's Day? -- running 18.9 / hour for the last 12 hours or so
just before I wrote this. If it would help anybody, I'll gladly share my
user-prefs file and the perl scripts I use in summarizing and flushing
spam.
With the SpamAssassin filter running, I rarely *see* five (5) spams a
day, which is far more bearable than the 350 - 500 that are Assassinated.
A small serving suggestion I have found very helpful: Use pine or mutt
or elm under Un*x (in command-line mode, not under X) to read email. You
get the words and lose all the time- and bandwidth-consuming distracting
geegaws that are the email equivalent of 4-color printed bulk snail mail.
Furthermore, nothing "just executes" or "installs" on its own.
On the other hand, if you need physical enhancements, university
degrees, softwares, work-at-home opportunities, hot stock tips, and/or
lowest-rate mortgage refinancing, disregard the above.
Hope this helps.
Best,
Gary

The AC power adapter for my old D7 seems to be on the fritz - connection on
the power supply side seems loose and it can't keep the deck powered on
anymores.
So...a couple questions...
(1) Anyone have an old D7 power adapter lying around that they don't need?
If so, please drop me a line at slipkid@voicenet.com and perhaps we can work
out something for it.
(2) The D7 adapter is AC 120V, 60Hz, 8W "input" and DC 6V, 650mA "output".
I also have a D100 adapter which is DC 4.5V, 700mA output, plus a universal
type adapter which can output 3V, 4.5V, 6V, 7.5V, 9V, or 12V all at 500mA.
I don't know the electronic rules about what is ok to use other than of
course a device with the exact same rated Volts and mA, but suspect that it
*might* be ok to try something close and still be able to operate the deck
without risk of damaging it or the power supply? Can anyone that
understands these things explain?
THANKS!
