Isn't that an ungrateful attitude?

if you can monitor the amps drawn on the 450mA supply when doing alkl =
the functions
like play, wind and so on, then you can determine if it will supply what =
is needed.
But taking something like 650mA power from a supply made for 500mA is =
likely to make
a bit more hot, and shorten its life.
Also the adaptor may limit current draw as to be unsuitable for some =
functions.
If oyu find you can record and play but not wind, then you semi use it =
until
something better comes up.
Problem with most wallwarts is that they are sealed and do not provide =
screws to
access the insides, typically as they are not even fused there is no =
reason to.
One scenario I can think of that would be good for chaning the insides, =
is when you
have a voltage regulator which you can reset to work to give more than =
4.5V to better
meet the requirement of 6V as in your current case.
However you should be openfor more ripple noise and also that the supply =
cannot
handle peak loads because the capacitor is too small or the transformer =
simply
doesn't work along.
All in all with the problems of relying on stuff that is not the best =
match I'd go
with getting a replacement wallwart with the 6V and 650mA and just move =
the power
connector over if it is proprietary.

Yes Eugene, i have found that close miking is not the
best practice. The resonance of the copper(?) appears
to need a few feet to fully expand. My last recording
was in a pine barn w/ the player seated, facing my
stand, with bowl at lap height, and my MG300's ortf
three feet away and at five feet in height. No math
applied to this distance, it was just what sounded the
best :)
And Sean, you slave away with only the occasional
recognition, so i vote: whatever is easier for you.
take care
and
happy trails

It's been several years since I've needed to buy any new DAT tapes, but the
supply of one-pass tapes my buddy gave me has finally run short. What I'd
like to know is, what is the best source for 90m DDS tapes online? What
brands are still in production, and which brand would you recommend?
Thanks,
mahatma57
