If I'm not mistaken (and I very well may be) this model uses a socketed
EEPROM and the chip must be removed and flashed with a conventional
EEPROM programmer. The circuitry of the drive itself has no provisions
to do this. The firmware for these is available; however, it is not
user flashable.
