I believe it is well under $800. 16bit, yes...but its simply amazing sounding. non-metal, and about the size of a standard brick (not m148 :). It can be stealthed, for sure. www.nickspicks.com has a review of this ACMod marantz. ------------------------------ From: "Pocky Way" Subject: DAT deck repair in Boston? repairing "eaten" tapes? Date: Wed, 24 May 2006 11:26:26 -0400 My DAT decks, 2 Tascam DA-20's, haven't been used a lot for several years, and have started eating tapes ... when ejected there is a little loop of tape hanging out of the cartridge. There may be other symptoms (refusal to play, etc) before (1) Does anyone know a good place in the Boston area to refurbish the decks? From the reading I've done, it sounds like basic stuff, lubrication, tension adjustment, like that. (Or a really good tutorial for do-it-yourself :-). (2) Is it possible to somehow salvage the messed up tapes? I only have a few, but not easily replaceable. Any advice would be appreciated. I'd like to use the decks with confidence, and transfer at least some of the tapes to computer/CD for safety and convenience. ------------------------------ From: Darryl Fruchter Subject: Recent John Prine Tour Date: Wed, 24 May 2006 10:51:05 -0700 (PDT) Hello, Has anybody taped any of the recent John Prine shows in the Midwest? Particularly interested in last week's Minnesota shows but would love to grab a copy of any show on the recent tour. Thanks, Darryl __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Same happens also on attempts to forward- or re-wind the tape. Have you ever come across this problem? Is there anything I can attempt before handing the unit in for service? Any recommendations of DAT repairers? Living in Australia I'd prefer to get this first time right rather then having to ship the unit across the big water several times. Or is there even a viable repair facility over here? thank you in advance, Gunther Wandtke / Sydney ------------------------------ ** FOR YOUR REFERENCE ** To unsubscribe from this digest, please send email to dat-heads-unsubscribe@datheads.phish.net If your email address has changed, you may (optionally) send the message to dat-heads-unsubscribe-oldaddress=olddomain@datheads.phish.net and the old address will be removed.
