I just got a Macbook and I want to find a digital recording solution  
so I can get (at least) 4 channels of a>d into it.  I want to be able  
to take a stereo SBD feed simultaneously with a stereo Mic feed.

As I understand it, the machine has a digital audio input, but it's  
only stereo.  I found a product called the Presonus Firepod which has  
2 channels of mic preamp, and 6 more channels of line input, but it's  
a 19" rackmount unit and I was hoping to find a (smaller?) portable  
solution that will work on DC voltage in the field.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, especially from someone  
with experience doing 4-channel matrices (matrixes?) on a laptop.
