I have the following REM shows for trade, all soundboards, which are
most likely uncirculated:
9-22-81 Tyrone's, Athens, GA
9-23-81 Tyrone's, Athens, GA (first and second sets)
1-20-86 40 Watt, Athens, GA
2-20-87 40 Watt, Athens, GA (3 songs)
8-19-87 40 Watt, Athens, GA
9-4-87 40 Watt, Athens, GA
5-20-88 40 Watt, Athens, GA (5 songs)
7-8-88 40 Watt, Athens, GA (5 songs, has audio problems)
These shows were most likely transferred to disc in the early days of
CD-R, and have a slight washy sound to them, especially noticeable in
the high end/cymbals. This is not MP3 noise. This is a CD-R software
processing noise. They are still very enjoyable to listen to. Also,
the discs appear to have all been edited to erase between song banter.
The REM Timeline lists the shows which are only a few songs as the
complete set played, and a couple of them are not even listed at all.
Most likely the band played an opening set for another band playing
the club that night to test out new songs. Many first time
performances are on these discs, including Finest Worksong, The One I
Love, Fall On Me, Begin The Begin and many others.
I would love to see lists from anyone interested in these shows. I am
particularly looking for the audience recording of the Smiths in
Oxford, 3/18/85.
Thanks for reading,
Wes
