I am looking for a digital audio interface to get music from DAT (coax
out's) into my laptop. I obviously want them to be bit-for-bit copies (no
unnecesary resampling). Will a USB interface do this? I've been
researching on the net and on dat-heads but am finding mixed replies.
I'm thinking either USB or a PCMCIA card would be best, if one exists that
is bit-accurate. Any recommendations? How about one of these options:
1) Digigram VXPocket (PCMCIA card)
2) Egosys U24 (USB interface box)
3) M-Audio Fast Track Pro (USB interface box)
4) Other?
The option to do hardware re-sampling on the fly would be nice, but not
needed (I can always do it with software for my 48k dats). At this point
I'm just looking for an inexpensive, bit-accurate interface. My old
EgoSys PCI card used to do everything, but unfortunately I can't use it
with my new laptop!
Thanks so much,
Scott
