Subject: For Trade: The Doors 4-10-70 Boston Early Show (DAT only please) Date: Wed, 20 Sep 2006 09:28:47 -0600 Hello, I have a copy of this show on DAT. It comes from a first generation cassette. Sound is comparable to what you may hear from other sources, or on other media, but if you're into known-generation sources, this tape may be for you. I would like to trade for more Doors on DAT or cassette, preferrably without cdr in the lineage of the show. If you have any Doors, please contact me off-list. Thanks, Jason BWT: Bob Marley 12-2-79 Sant Cruz Civic Auditorium Early Show (2 discs) ------------------------------ From: Subject: audio editing disk partitioning strategies Date: Wed, 20 Sep 2006 11:38:18 -0400 Hey People, I'm putting together a new computer for working with DAT recordings. I want to edit recorded sounds and interviews into podcasts. The new machine will have two 320 GB HDDs (yay!), and I'll probably use Audacity and ProTools LE for the editing. Any suggestions on partitioning strategies? Like, I'm pretty sure it's a good idea to put the editing software and DAT data on separate disks, but how much space do most people allocate for the raw DAT data? Is it best to use a separate partition for the finished (edited) stuff? Working directories...? thanks! Leif ------------------------------ From: rte@oraculi.com Subject: ipod recording Date: Wed, 20 Sep 2006 13:19:14 -0400 Seems that using an ipod for recording is closer to a reality. The 5G/video ipods are supposed to be able to record at 44.1 KHz, and new add-ons have mic/line-in inputs: http://www.xtrememac.com/audio/earphones_recorders/micromemo.php http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/italkpro/ http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/ipod/review/belkin-tunetalk-stereo-for-ipod-with-video/ Anyone have experience with any of these products? How is the quality? I had planned on eventually retiring my DAT recorder and using the ipod linux software for ipod recording as a replacement, but it doesn't support recording on the 5G yet - and if the ipod has 44.1 recording now built in with products for sale now, why wait? If anyone has any insight, feel free to reply to me or to the list. ------------------------------ ** FOR YOUR REFERENCE ** To unsubscribe from this digest, please send email to dat-heads-unsubscribe@datheads.phish.net If your email address has changed, you may (optionally) send the message to dat-heads-unsubscribe-oldaddress=olddomain@datheads.phish.net and the old address will be removed.
