DAT-heads Digest #950, Volume #7 Fri, 22 Sep 06 10:50:01 EDT Contents: FS: Pair of DPA 4060's w/DPA Power Supply & extras ("Al Young") Any tapers in Costa Rica? (The Kenster) Trade: Phish 11/14/1997 semi-new source ("Jason C.") ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: "Al Young" Subject: FS: Pair of DPA 4060's w/DPA Power Supply & extras Date: Thu, 21 Sep 2006 14:30:09 -0500 Hi, I have some gear that I'm looking to sell since I no longer have my Sony M1 and am not actively taping anymore. Here's the 411: (2) DPA 4060 microphones black (1) DPA MPS 6002 Power Supply / Battery Box (stereo mini or XLR output) (2) DPA 6005 Cable Extenstions (3.5 meters; appx. 12 ft each) Extras: (1) DPA DMM0001 Lavaliere Clip (I lost the other clip, but should be pretty easy/inexpensive to get another clip); (2) extra microphone caps/screens; (1) stereo mini All you would need to get going is a DAT machine. Basically this set is brand new. It's only been used about a half a dozen times. They make great tapes that would rival most full size rigs. The mics produce tapes that are uncolored and very bright with tremendous bass response. The power supply/battery box is something that you will not be able to buy even if you wanted to. The unique thing about it is that it has both a stereo mini and an XLR output. When DPA was developing the power supply, I was helping their R&D department in putting the final product together. In return, they sold me one of their original prototypes which had both output types (one of only three in existence). They currently make the battery box with EITHER the stereo mini OR XLR outputs. The model number for the XLR battery box that they currently sell is MPS 6010, I'm not sure what the stereo mini model number is. But the MPS 6002 box that I'm selling is the exact same size and looks exactly the same, it just has both output types. The reason why I originally bought this rig was because I was tired of lugging around tons of equipment to shows. With this rig, I could make great tapes with lots of flexibility and have everything I needed in my pockets or a very small bag. I bought the cable extenstions for the times when I was at larger shows, where I would run them split about 10-12' apart and clip them onto someone elses mic stands. A lot of times I would just end up patching onto someone elses rig if there was a good setup, but this set makes it so that you are never without a great option, especially for smaller shows where no-one is taping or if you're going stealth. The mics & accessories were originally purchased from Musicians Gear in Germany and I have the original receipt. The battery box, as mentioned, was purchased straight from DPA's North American division based in Canada and I have the original invoice. I paid over $1350.00 for everything originally and am asking $750.00 for the set. If interested, I'd be happy to email you photos. Please email me at al.young@comcast.net if you're interested or if you have any questions. Thanks. PS. I also have a SEK'D Prodif 24 Pro Audio Soundcard for lossless transfers to PC for sale. Email me if interested. Thanks. ------------------------------ From: The Kenster Subject: Any tapers in Costa Rica? Subject: Trade: Phish 11/14/1997 semi-new source Date: Thu, 21 Sep 2006 19:37:30 -0600 Hope this isn't a duplicate posting. Hi all, I taped this night (Shure SM-57s > Sony TCD-D8 @ 48khz.). Back in 1997, when a digital sound card was way out of my price range, I made an analog transfer of this show and burned discs of it. I only gave it to a few people, and I doubt it got traded much. Looking on etree, the only circulating sources of this show are either Schoeps or Neumanm. My setup that night certainly wasn't first-class, but as I haven't heard the other sources, I'm not sure how my tape stacks up. So I offer this show up for trade on DAT or cdr. Please reply off-list if interested. Thanks.
