Hi guys,

So my DAT deck bit the dust, the victim of a water leak in my closet.  I
have to admit that I haven't been paying attention to decks lately.  If I've
got ~$1000 to spend, what's a good stealth recorder to get?  Should I find a
used D8 or D100 on eBay, or head straight into full digital?  If so, what?

My DA-P1 hung with a tape in it and will not eject. I have tried going
into test mode and ejecting. It shows no errors but the transport keys
are non functional (outside test mode). I removed all the panels
but cannot access the mechanism. I can't remove the top panel without
being able to open the cassette tray!
Is there a manual eject mechanism? I couldn't find anything in the
owners or service manuals...
