One is recorded at 32kHz as reported by my R300. It is a copy of Tom Petty from a radio broadcast. When I play it to record it on my m-audio 2496 it sounds okay when recording it digital in with card set at 32kHz and using CD-wave. After recording it sounds like Alvin and the Chipmunks (I should know I have one of their albums from the 60's when I was a young'un). The second tape is a Grateful Dead tape (12/28/79). R300 reports tape setting as 44.1kHz. On playback tape sounds faster (possibly 48kHz). I have both the soundcard and CD-wave set for the same speed as reported by the Sony R300. After loading hundreds of tapes these are the only two to present this problem. I am so getting out of the tape business, and love my 722 and am still experimenting with the microtrack. What am I overlooking for these two tapes? Earthlink may challenge you if you respond, I will go through my suspect mail and add you if necessary. It's possible for them to disagree; then the playback will be at one speed, but the included data will _say_ the other. The FCN-1 allows you to set the claimed speed when making a copy (or recording); playing with it is how I know a tape can get it wrong. If you've recorded the .wav files, I'd guess that all you need to do is use a binary editor to fiddle with the header to show the correct speed.
