Hello Dat-heads,
I was very active in this
forum/mailing list (my old email was like
pkmin@rsc.rockwell.com or
something like that)from about 96-01 and have not
taped since. I have a bunch of gear for sale and
based on the scarcity of postings here, this no longer
seems to be where too many"concert tapers" hang(back
then there was like a digest a day with 20 posts). I
also noticed that the forum the Oades (Oade Brothers
HiFi in Georgia - Jim, and Doug)used to have is
also gone. Where the heck has everyone gone? I have
the following for sale and would prefer it go to a
"dat-head" type person who will use it to archive
shows. Rather than put it on ebay. Plus I think
there
will be a bigger target audience somewhere with
"dat-head types"other than
ebay (not to mention ebay would take a "big cut"). At
any rate heres what I have (I have numerous
pictures and receipts of the Schoeps and Lunatec which
I will gladly email you). Everything is in excellent
condition and works great.
Schoeps CMXY4V mic (2 rotatable 4V capsules in a
"coincident" arrangement)with Schoeps shock mount A20S
and windscreen. Awesome awesome mic! Makes great
concert recordings.
Grace Designs Lunatec V2 preamp/power supply with
Oade BP1 charger and 3 Oade batteries (each will power
for 12-15 hours...for you festival tapers this is
perfect). The preamp is sweet and has numerous
possibilies for bass roll-offs (6 or 12 db/octave, 50,
75, 100, 125 Hz or something like that)as well as
other features.
PSC (Professional Sound Corporation)48V phantom Box
(the basic one, no low pass filters, just 48V phantom,
has belt clip)
Monster M1000 mic cables(pair) from the Oades = 13.5
ft.
I also have a pair of Radio Shack 33-3007 mics with a
pair of mic
clamps (this was my first pair of mics, taped Ben
Harper 5-17-97 and Burning Spear 8-18-96, Zero Condes
Lumber 8-3-97 with these, all GR8 recordings (but no
they're no Schoeps LOL).
Prices? How about $2250 for all the Schoeps
stuff(thats 1/2 price and as you know Schoeps doesn't
discount- super deal IMO)
Grace with All the power- $975
Cables- $95
RS mics and clamps - $90
PSC Phantom Box-$85
I think the above prices are extremely fair and a GR8
deal. Never had a single problem with anything, it
all works great (recently tested just to confirm)and
has been stored with care.
Also please let me know if you know of other better
places to post this, I have been out of "the loop" for
like 5+ years and am not sure where all the "dead-head
types" are hanging on the www. Please email
pete_min@yahoo.com for pictures, ?'s, etc. I don't
remember too many people from here, but do remember
Seth Breidbart and a few others who I used to trade
with(Duncan Oldham, John Procopio, and in looking over
some of the recent digests, there are some names I
recognize from 6-10 years ago etc). At any rate,
not even sure if many of the "old timers" still hang
here
but hope everyone is doing well. I had a great time
on here back in the day and even more fun taping
shows. But I'm going back to school to be a teacher
and need some $$ to pay tuition.
Thanks and keep on archiving those shows!
Pete Min (please pass this info on to any friends,
thanks)
ps also for columbus ohio folks, tape the spikedrivers
(thespikedrivers.com). They are the best "jam band"
in columbus, in my opinion. I'm pretty sure they
would be
cool with taping. Steve Sweeney in the band is also
in Ekoostic Hookah which some of you have probably
heard of.

Warning! No jamband, bluegrass, or jazz content is contained in this post.
If you do not like good old fashioned kickass rock and roll, please feel
free to scroll to the next post....on the second thought, this list has been
so sparse lately that this might be the only post in the digest....did
everyone here fall asleep? Well, here's a good swift kick for ya....
The Hidden Hand is about to finally tour the US again. This looks like the
most extensive US tour that they've done yet. Tapers are sorely needed for
these shows, this is probably one of the most undertaped bands of all time.
Turnout from tapers has been dismal on the last couple tours, with only one
or two shows taped on the entire tour....so here is the chance to redeem
yourself! Audience taping is absolutely allowed, both audio and video.
Soundboard access is venue-dependent. For those of you who have not been
paying attention to my posts here in the past or have otherwise not yet had
a chance to hear this excellent band, a good description of them is a cross
between Black Sabbath and Motorhead....imagine Tony Iommi and Lemmy together
on the same stage....everyone who I've turned on to this band has thought
they were great, hopefully a few of those people here on DATheads will step
up to the plate and second my recommendation or better yet, get out there
and tape a show or two. This is probably one of the best bands you can see
in the $8-15 range in small intimate venues....for this style of music, it
sure beats paying $60 or more for a ticket, $9 for a beer, and getting stuck
with reserved seating in the back of the arena! Unfortunately, the band did
not post the dates on their website (and thus making it necessary to post
the dates themselves instead of a link....sorry 'bout that!), but thanks to
another clued-in fan, here are the dates....
