Dolby-A was a separate unit that you used for input and output. Those units are probably Dolby B and/or Dolby C. The A-77/II had Dolby B, if I am not wrong, to record in 3 3/4 ips. Your A77 was modified for 4-track? Because I only knew models that were for 1/4" tape in 2 x full-track or 2 x half-track. I really do not know these Teac models, but there might be some info on Teac's site. Carlos E. Martinez ________________________ carlmart@centroin.com.br
From: Gregory Garwin <ggarwin@tuffmail.com> Subject: Re: Dolby question Date: Thu, 01 Feb 2007 12:23:56 -0800 Mike: The AN-180 is a Dolby B unit. I'm not sure about the others. In order to decode your encoded tapes properly you will also need to come up with a Dolby B playback calibration tape. I can't help you there, but I think I still have an AN-180 manual somewhere if you need anything researched. Greg (I can't believe I know the answer to a question posted here)
From: "Matt Sohn" <mahatma57@sbcglobal.net> Subject: Re: Dolby Question Date: Thu, 1 Feb 2007 15:23:51 -0500 Mike, Dolby B was a consumer format designed for cassettes. Usually reel-to-reel tapes encoded with Dolby B are masters made for cassette duplication. The unit you would want for decoding these tapes is the Dolby 422 spec sheet here: http://www.dolby.com/assets/pdf/tech_library/128_422onesheet.Spec.pdf or the older model 330 (there's one on ebay right now for $499) Hope this helps, Matt S ================================= Original Message: From: Mike Parker <mikeparker5@yahoo.com> Subject: Dolby question Date: Wed, 31 Jan 2007 18:23:41 -0800 (PST) I have a Revox A-77 mkII reel to reel deck, with no dolby, and a bunch of reels recorded with Dolby B to transfer. So i've checked out eBay, and have found the Teac AN-60, AN-180 & AN-300 units for sale. My question is, are these Dolby A or B? Just says Dolby on the front of the units. I have read up a little on the subject, and it seems that Dolby B was a single band & Dolby A was four bands of boost/adjustment. Would these machines work for what I need to do, which is playback home recorded stereo 4-track reels with Dolby B? thanks very much, Mike Parker
From: dattrader@comcast.net Subject: Opcode DATport Drivers Date: Fri, 02 Feb 2007 06:11:05 +0000 Would anyone happen to have the floppy disk containing the subject drivers still? My disk got corrupted and now I don't have a way to install the DATport on an old Win98 box to transfer all my DATs over. Google wasn't much help. Oh, what about the manual too? :p
From: David McGee <keytohwy@mac.com> Subject: DDS drive on a Mac Date: Thu, 1 Feb 2007 22:34:41 -0800 I'm doing it. Using a Sony DDS drive that I bought and flashed the firmware on. I'm using DATXtract to rip the DATs...works great! http://pdicamillo.org/~peter/datxtract/ David > Is there software available to make one of these > Seagate dat drives work on a Macintosh (10.3.9)? > > thanks, > Mike
From: rappard@dds.nl Subject: Up for grabs: MiniDisc masters (Beck, Isis) Date: Fri, 2 Feb 2007 13:36:35 +0100 (CET) I'm moving house soon, and realized I'm not doing anything useful with my MiniDisc masters - so if you see something you like, drop me a line and we'll work something out (blank MDs preferred).
