I will be moving to Oregon in a few months and I would like to talk
with any tapers in the Portland, Salem area. I'm mainly interested in
finding out how easy it is to tape up there and what places are the
best to tape in.

I think you are a little confused. Bill Frisell is no relation to
Lefty Frizzell. Both are influential, great musicians, of course.
I tried to record a Bill Frisell/Dale Bruning show, a few years ago
and was met by much resistance from the Frisell management. I think
Bill himself would have been fine with it.
I used to see Bill play in little places in the Boston area in the
early 80s (mostly the 1369 in Cambridge) and probably would have had
no trouble with taping then, but at that point he was just a really
cool local (at least relatively) guy who was easy to see on a regular
basis.
You are absolutely right about Mr. Dave. He does not have a pleasant
attitude about it.

Sonic Studios BC Battery System @ $80 is what I used for the D3.
Perhaps you can home build one from parts at Radio Shack.

I have an old d3 that works fine, and i had a battery
shell that would fit 5 alkaline batteries that worked
great as an external power supply- however, the shell
was stolen, does anyone know where i can get a new
one? something that can be used as power supply that
is small? email, and thx in advance.

If you're referring to Lefty Frizzell, the country artist that wrote
Always Late, had a hit with Long Black Veil and toured with Hank Sr. I
don't believe the two are related.
