From: AC <zpln100@yahoo.com> Subject: posts re personal DAT collections Date: Thu, 5 Apr 2007 14:02:13 -0700 (PDT) I have occasionally seen posts here from time to time regarding people selling their personal DAT (or analog) collections and the like. For the record: If anyone here is ever looking to sell a private collection that contains mostly Led Zeppelin recordings (DAT/analog/CDR etc), please feel free to contact me before posting here, as I may be interested in buying depending on what it is you've got. Thank you. zpln100@yahoo.com
From: "Gary Davis" <g@hoxnet.com> Subject: D8 levels Reply-to: g@hoxnet.com Date: Thu, 5 Apr 2007 15:45:50 -0700 Any time you turn the input volume below "4" on the D8, you will probably get distortion regardless of what the meters read. Therefore, your input signal must be low enough that you can turn the volume above 4. Yes, the Core Sounds attenuator will work, but most people solve the problem by connecting their mics directly to the LINE input on the D8. I'm not sure what the Audio Buddy is, but I'm guessing it's some sort of pre-amp? If you can power your mics without a preamp, just run them straight into the D8 and as long as you can get the levels up to at least -10dB on the meters (or even -20dB), you will probably get a fine recording that you can amplify further in post-production. --Gary
