Date: Thu, 03 May 2007 12:15:24 -0400 The Dio Sabbath lineup. There's probably a 90% chance I'll be heading to the Cleveland show since a buddy of mine is a huge Megadeth fan and they're opening up that gig. Guessing this would be a stealth effort, but just wondering how its been so far if anyone has hit that up. I know I owe some of you emails back, sorry about that, the emails are sitting in my inbox but I'm just bad about replying to shit. Will try to get to those soon. ryan fROMOHIO ------------------------------ From: MRasicci@aol.com Subject: Steely Dan Fort Myers Ticket Date: Thu, 3 May 2007 14:26:10 EDT I have 1 ticket middle front row balcony for Steely Dan in Fort Myers, Florida for sale (Wednesday). Only analogy that comes to mind is that it's like offering veal sandwiches at a PETA conference. ------------------------------ From: Mike Parker Subject: Buying shows (Jimi Hendrix) Date: Thu, 3 May 2007 16:32:59 -0700 (PDT) Not trying to start any trouble here related to buying bootlegs, but I have paid quite a bit for Jimi Hendix tapes over the years. They were uncirculated at the time, and that's what the taper wanted, so I was happy to fork over the cash. It was either that or never hear the shows. The St. Paul 1970 tape cost $700. Rather poor sounding audio, but that's what the guy wanted. I chipped in $200 for that one. Paid $400 for a Maui 1970 audience tape last year. There are soundboards of the show, but any new source is worth checking out. This one had an intro to Hey Baby that was missing from the soundboard reels, so that was a nice find. Bought an 8mm one minute film from 68 for $235 (thought that was a pretty good deal actually). The point is, any little bit of tape that surfaces, well you do what you gotta do to add it to the archives. If it costs a few bucks, that's the way it goes sometimes. Tapes still surface for free, or trade, thankfully more often than not. The Royal Albert Hall 2-24-69 soundcheck soundboard 1st gen reels is a good example of that happening. It's been bootlegged, and even released on Charley Records in England. They all came from reels that a DJ got from a guy in advertising way back in 1971. He gave them to his nephew, who offered them to some Jimi collectors a couple years ago. He didn't know that half of this material had never been heard before, so they were a nice suprise. If anyone has any rare Jimi tapes/film/photos, I'm willing to buy/trade/transfer/drive across 5 states to dub it/whatever it takes. thanks and take care, Mike Parker __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? The first time I loaded a tape and then either hit play, fast foward or record, it says "loading" and just blanks out for a second and then the screen comes back on and nothin happens. Does anyone know if this is a head issue or what? I have cleaned the heads and the rollers with rubbing alcohol after the first occurance and that has done nothing. I have another D8 that I have owned for about 7 years and I have never had this issue. Any insight would be great. Thanks Kenny _________________________________________________________________ Need a break?
