Hi all,

Just a report on the Microtrack 2496 you might enjoy.

I purchased one from a member of this list about a year ago; it was in
practically new condition, and came with one of the Coresound t-mics. It's
done great work, including with line input and phantom powering.

A few weeks ago I was doing a soundwalk in Portugal, and due to factors I
won't detail here for fear of derisive laughter, I fell backwards about 10
feet into a river with the 2496 still recording. By the time I made my way
out, I'd lost a few small items and my glasses, but the rest of the
equipment was there. My Canon Rebel was killed dead.

But I took the dead 2496 back to the residence, took it apart, cleaned
connectors and gave it a serious drying and electronic testing, and lo and
behold, it -- and the microphones -- were in perfect shape. Even the
recording came out, though it failed to save that last part of the file
where I was falling, hitting, and yelling.

The unit took quite a beating that day, and is still working brilliantly.
