From: Dean Lipoff <dean@deanos.net> Subject: Been a while Date: Tue, 15 May 2007 20:24:14 -0700 Just wanted to say hello and thanks again for all of those that through trading, in past years, allowed me to amass a huge amount of (in most cases) great sounding incredible shows. See you on Dime. Thanks Again Dean
From: scartwri@rochester.rr.com Subject: MicroTrack 24/96 power & assorted other questions Date: Wed, 16 May 2007 17:02:19 -0400 Hey People, Long time since I've posted, hope everyone doing well! Is there a way to externally power the MicroTrack 24/96? The battery setup it has looks to be a pain in the butt in festival situations. Other than that, it looks to be a pretty nice unit. Additionally, are there any recommendations f/ a similar setup. Things I would like to see include: - Reasonable pricing - Digital & analog I/O - Ability to power externally - Level controls that are full control, not stepping One last topic (keep in mind, I haven't used a 24 bit recorder and certainly don't claim to have a full grasp of the technical aspects)... If I were to record a show using the 24 bit setting @ 44.1, once I've created a CD would it be playable on a standard CD player, or would I have to record 16 bit to be able to play the resulting CD? How is this typically handled, so a CD could be played in a standard CD player? One last 24 bit clarification... I am assuming that I would not want to use my SBM-1 if I were going to record 24 bit, correct. I assume that using the SBM-1 would force the recorder into 16 bit mode. Along those lines, if I decided to use 16 bit mode (and assuming that I was using the MicroTrack), would the SBM-1 improve the sound quality, or just be an extra piece of gear that I'm lugging f/ no reason? Thanks in advance f/ any advise! Peace, Sean
