Are either of those mics stereo mics?  Google them and find out...

If one is a stereo mic, you are all set.  Try recording from a loud
stereo and see what you get.

You will want to use new DAT tapes.  They are only a few bucks a piece.

And of course get some AA batteries for the D8.
