I got this unit and transferred some DATs with it, and it works great,
but I just don't need it anymore. This is an external unit with a
SCSI interface. I have used it with a SCSI to firewire adapter on a
Mac and it has worked flawlessly under OS 10.3, 10.4 on both PPC and
Intel machines. I have never used it on a PC, but it should work fine
there as well. Included is the drive, the scsi cable, and the
firewire to scsi adapter. $150, I'll pay shipping.
Thanks!

You might get a satisfactory result by using XP's Command shell (instead
of Cmd.exe). <Start><Run><Command> will start it in all its gory. YMMV.
Hope this helps
Best,

Hi all,
I have a Sony Sony SDT-9000 computer tape drive, and I also have the SGI
firmware needed to make it audio-capable. But, the firmware's
documentation says I need to be in true DOS mode (not a DOS window,
running from within XP) to flash the drive. Well, that's getting pretty
hard to do nowadays.
I did find the most recent version of PC-DOS, and got it installed on my
laptop. However, it won't recognize my Adaptec SCSI card (it's a PC Card
- those little credit-card sized mini cards you use with laptops), because
I don't have the DOS drivers needed to fire up the PC card socket in DOS
mode. They aren't available from the manufacturer, and I don't have a
full-sized desktop with a scsi card any more. I've already spent a
ridiculous amount of time on the laptop, and I don't want to buy another
scsi-capable desktop just to flash a drive for 10 minutes. So, here's my
idea...
If anyone out there is set up with a SCSI-capable PC that can boot into
true DOS mode, I'd like to mail my drive & the firmware to you, with
return postage. I could toss in $30 or so for the chore - it should only
take a few minutes of your time. Anybody who can help me out with this?
Preferably someone who has done this before with their own tape drive?
Please let me know, and please remember to remove the "nospam." from the
above address before replying. Thanks so much! Scott
