Hi guys,
I have a Casio DA-1 DAT recorder / player which I inherited some time
ago. See http://www.thevintageknob.org/THEVAULT/DA1/DA1.html for a
good rundown on this now (very!) obsolete deck. I used the DA-1
during the mid 90s, and as an A/V technician I occasionally needed to
remove the covers to clean the transport, or fix one of the 3.5mm
sockets etc. This was accomplished by ejecting the transport, then
removing screws / manipulating the top cover off. Recently I
unpacked the DA-1, with vague ideas of doing some field
recordings. Unfortunately, it will no longer eject the transport -
and I can't disassemble it to fix the problem, because I can't eject
the transport! I suspect that the drive belts in the transport
mechanism have turned to goo. I wonder, does anyone have any
thoughts on how to proceed? Has anyone ever encountered a service
manual for a DA-1?
Thanks in advance, and best regards -
