As cool as a direct DAT>computer solution may seem, it is one more step in 
this new world where we transfer music without ever hearing it.

I much prefer the old days when, if someone requested a copy of your DAT, 
you had to actually play the whole DAT (and hopefully listening to at least 
some of it). 

Also, listening you your DATs as you transfer them will help alert you to any 
playback problems.
