re: Where to Post shows ("Gary Davis")
From: "Gary Davis" <gdavisloop@earthlink.net> Subject: re: Where to Post shows Reply-to: gdavisloop@earthlink.net Date: Fri, 06 Nov 2009 14:08:24 -0800 I've been posting shows and clips to Archive.org. Once you post a FLAC or other format there, it automatically converts your show to other formats, so people can download an MP3 or even stream it live, or download the FLAC, depending on how much commitment they want to put into hearing your show. Also, Archive allows extensive documentation. The only trick is finding the right category. If they don't already have your band in their list, I think you can post to "Open Source Audio." I believe Archive.org is primarily for bands that allow taping (or where you got permission), but I'm not sure. All the text you enter can be picked up by searches. For example, if anyone on DAT-Heads would like to hear some of my latest Nels Cline -related postings, just go to Archive.org, search for "Nels Cline," and then set the display order to "most recent posted first" - you will see some of mine near the top! --Gary
